The Arc of Jackson County is governed by an all-volunteer, 13-member board.

Laura is the mother of 2 grown sons and the grandmother of 4. She worked as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor until her retirement in August 2015. Laura enjoys cooking, reading and travelling, and above all, spending time with her family.

Barb Nelson, Secretary
Barb is the mother of one and grandmother to one. Barb has served people with developmental/intellectual disabilities in several capacities for over 20 years, working in direct care for the elderly and in case management. She is currently a case management supervisor. She loves reading, hiking, art projects, sports, serving others and just spending time with nature. Her greatest love, however, is spending time with her grandson, the center of her world, and watching him grow up.
Kerry resides with her husband, Paul, and they have two adult children. Their daughter works as a music/choral teacher in Indianapolis, while their son resides at home. Kerry has worked in the field of advocacy for several years and is past-president of The Arc of Jackson County.

Beth is married to Jerry, and they have one daughter, Kayla. Beth has been a case manager in the field of mental health (addiction) for over 20 years. She enjoys philanthropic work that focuses on people with disabilities, church activities, and spending time with her family.
- Bill Elmore
Gail Pfaffenberger graduated from Indiana State University with a degree in education. She currently holds certificate in Rehabilitation Counseling. Gail worked for the State of Indiana for 30 years as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor and was involved in the Jackson County Transition Council. Her interests include walking, church activities, spending time with her grandchildren, and Corvette-riding.
